The Desire of the Sluggard
"The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.
All day long he craves and craves, but the righteous gives and does not hold back." Proverbs 21:25-26
A lot of guys pride themselves on being hard workers. Especially in a rural community such as Gower, it can be a badge of honor rolling down the road to the next job or field after the sun is down because "I'm such a hard worker." While it is honorable to be a hard worker in your vocation, there are still areas of being a sluggard that will lead you and your family into a life of destruction.
There are three ways that we are called by God to be providers for our families; financially, emotionally, and spiritually. While most guys feel that they have done their job by providing financially, there are still two areas where your family needs you to provide. Those are emotionally and spiritually.
Providing emotionally requires you to be a spiritually healthy man. We all know the guys who are emotionally unstable and odds are they are unstable spiritually as well. So, what's your move brother? Be the sluggard emotionally and spiritually? Continue to crave but find your family in spiritual poverty? Or, be a righteous man who gives and does not hold back?
Stay faithful brothers!
