5 I lay down and slept; I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. Psalm 3:5-6
Tonight, we will lay down and sleep. If we wake up in the morning it will have been because the Lord has sustained us. The Lord sustaining us is the ultimate answer to the fear many are currently feeling or may feel in light of today's election. Whatever the results are, whoever comes away the winner, the truth is we will be sustained by the Lord.
When we believe in the Lord as the one who sustains us we can live the same way as David in verse 6 and "not be afraid of many thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around." David was a man with a lot of enemies, he was the king of a nation that has been in the midst of constant turmoil. Nations were constantly trying to conquer Israel as they still are today. David, a man who was constantly under fire, found his comfort in the sustaining power of the Lord.
Let us do the same brothers. Let us be men who find our comfort and support knowing that "Salvation belongs to the Lord!"
