The sluggard craves and gets nothing.
"The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied."
Honestly, I was born inclined to being a sluggard and lazy. I'd rather sit on the couch and watch movies or scroll on my phone all day. But, I've seen these warnings in scripture over and over about what to expect from laziness. Here, in Proverbs 13:4, we see that lazy men crave things and end up with nothing but those who are diligent are "richly supplied."
Have you ever been in a season where you just don't feel satisfied by anything? Odds are you weren't consistent in bible reading and prayer during that time, right? Odds are you had strong desires for everything except the Lord. Generally when we have insatiable desires that cannot be satisfied we desire something that cannot satisfy, but in this scripture we see that laziness is the culprit. But, when we are diligent, though, we are richly supplied!
Something very important to understand, scripture does not promise health and wealth in material ways. In fact we have every reason to believe God would lead us through famine in order to prune us of unrighteousness.
Like Israel wandering in the wilderness, Job losing everything, David losing a child are all examples of God taking things away in order to rid us of unrighteousness. So, it is appropriate to expect that when Proverbs says "the diligent is richly supplied" does not always mean material things. Sure, we know if you work hard you will find material gain, but material gain only lasts as long as God allows it. Think about all the people preparing to lose their material things in Florida right now. Hurricane "Ian" is headed right for them and all they can do is try and evacuate or brace for impact. How can they be "richly supplied" when they can know they are about to lose material things? They should seek God because God will always leave us satisfied, no matter what is taken away from us!
I'm thankful for the things God has blessed me with, namely I am thankful that he has changed me from being a sluggard to being diligent (well for the most part), especially when he changes my desires from material things to seeking eternal things, such as himself. These are things in which I hope I am richly supplied!
Stay faithful brothers.
