We buried Lora-Dean Smith today at Allen Cemetery in Gower. She will always be the definition of the word sweet for me. I didn't know her very well but I knew her to be a sweet lady and no one has corrected me yet so I will continue to remember her as sweet. More importantly I knew Lora-Dean as faithful.
Faithfulness can be hard for us as men, especially when it comes to our faith. Historically this has generally been the case. Pew research has found that, in majority Christian nations, more women attend church than men. They have also found that women are more likely to pray, believe in heaven, and even consider faith important. So, here is my simple question, what gives? Why are men less likely to be faithful to our faith?
Let's look at the word (faithful) in a biblical context. In 1st Corinthians Paul writes that "God is faithful" several times. Every time it's the same greek word synonymous with words like "trustworthy," "execution of commands," "reliable to complete commands." This word πείθω (pistos) defines who we ought to be, brothers.
Our commander, Jesus has given us the task of leadership. Now, my plea with you is the be a faithful man who can be counted on as trustworthy and executing the commands of Christ!
Be faithful brothers!
