"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring."

Gosh... You've probably read this verse, maybe know this verse by heart, but odds are you're like me and it doesn't weigh as much on your mind as it ought to. Question, could the issue here not be about planning but an arrogant mindset about who governs the future? Could King Solomon be warning us that we cannot have a boastful mindset about our futures so that we are aware of who truly governs the future? I think so! Of course we must make plans for the future, of course we should plan to do good enjoyable things. But, when God introduces difficulty or trial, could it be for our good because it teaches/reminds us that we are not God? Do you need to be reminded that "you do not know what a day may bring?"

Did the whole world need to be reminded "you do not know what a day may bring" in 2019? Do we need reminded "you do not know what a day may bring" when your wife shares news with you that throws a curveball into your plans? Is it time for you to acknowledge you ought to depend on the king of the universe rather than pretending you are?
